Our Story & Philosophy

How it Began

A fortuitous stint on the Project Runway gave fashion designer Emmett McCarthy a chance to realize the lifelong dream of launching his own fashion line and the opportunity to return to womenswear after years working in menswear. In 2005 he opened the doors to his EMc2 boutique on Elizabeth Street in Manhattan’s fashionable NoLita district. Emmett envisioned the boutique as a platform from which he could build his brand by meeting his customers face-to-face. Four years later, this strategy is still the key to his success.

Our Design Philosophy

Embodying the look of the chic Manhattan woman who loves to dress, loves to shop, and feels confident in her own skin, EMc2 collections are the result of a philosophy balanced on the belief that fashion is for now, but style is forever. EMc2 deliver style that transcends seasonality while remaining conscious of the latest trends.  At EMc2 we believe each garment should look fresh today and timeless tomorrow. With a focus on clean lines, feminine touches, flawless construction, and old world tailoring, EMc2 embodies understated sophistication.

Our clothes are designed and made in Manhattan with the quality and attention to detail only possible close to home. All aspects of the brands are managed in- house with dedication to making elegant dressing look effortless.
EMc2 = American Style.
